高橋泥舟墓
　高橋泥舟は幕末期の幕臣、槍術家。名は政晃。通称謙三郎。のち精一。泥舟と号した。山岡鉄舟の義兄にあたる。天保6年（1835）2月17日、山岡正業の次男として生まれ高橋包承の養子となる。剣術の名人として世に称賛され、21歳で幕府講武所教授、25歳のとき同師範役となり、従五位下伊勢守に叙任された。
　佐幕、倒幕で騒然としていた文久2年（1862）11月、幕府は江戸で浪士を徴集し、翌文久3年（1863）2月京都へ送った。泥舟は浪士取扱いとなったが、浪士が尊攘派志士と提携したため任を解かれた。同文久3年（1863）12月師範役に復職し、慶應3年（1867）遊撃隊頭取となる。
　翌慶應4年（1868）1月「鳥羽伏見の戦」のあと、主戦論が多数を占めていた中で、泥舟は徳川家の恭順を説き、15代将軍徳川慶喜が恭順の姿勢を示して寛永寺子院の大慈院に移り、ついで水戸に転居した際には、遊撃隊を率いて警固にあたった。廃藩置県後は、要職を退き、隠棲し書を楽しんだという。明治36年（1903）2月13日没。
　勝海舟、山岡鉄舟とともに幕末の三舟といわれる。

 Takahashi Deishu was a master of spearmanship and a subject of the government in the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate;also he was a brother-in-law of Yamaoka Tesshu.He was born as a second son of the Yamaokas,and then was adopted into the Takahashi family.His original name was Masaaki but he was usually called Kenzaburo.He was admired as an expert of the spearmanship and became an instructor of the Military Art School of the government at the age of 21,then became a master at the age of 25.
 In 1862 when the supporters of the shogunate and anti shogunate stood in opposition,the government levied masterless samurais in Edo and sent them to Kyoto in1863.Although he became a leader of the group,later had to quit his post because members of the group cooperated with the supporters of the Emperor.However he was soon reinstated and became the leader of a guerilla unit.After the battle of  Toba-Fushimi,Deishu persuated the Tokugawa familly to obey the Emperor.When Yoshinobu,the fifteenth Tokugawa shogun swore allegiance to the Emperor and mobed to the Kaneiji Temple,then moved to Mito, he beaded a guerilla unit and guarded the shogun Yoshinobu.After the edtablishment of prefectures in place of feudal domains,he is said to have spent rest of his life enjoying calligraphy in seclusion and he died in February  13th in 1903.He is called"Three shu at the end of the Tokugawa government"together with Yamaoka Tesshu and Katsu Kaishu.
